Hello Everyone!

Today, as promised, we’re introducing the first of many GUI previews. We hope you’ll enjoy them! Our goal in regard to the GUI has always been to make a great looking app that also stays consistent with the rest of the Mac OS X experience.

This week our main topic of discussion if the toolbar. It’s not the final GUI, and there may be some slight changes, but this is what we’ve got now.

First, on the left side of the toolbar there are a few buttons:

There’s the “Navigation” buttons (Back and Forward), which let you navigate back and forth through the feeds. These buttons behave very similar to the Finder.

There’s the ”Add Feed” button, a button that takes you to the add feed window.

The last button in the left group is the “Refresh” button, which updates all your feeds and checks for any new posts.

One of Headline’s unique features is the “Ticker.” It constantly shows the latest news from designated feeds, and also functions as a HUD for displaying info related to current actions (refreshing feeds, now playing, etc). It’s styled similarly to iTunes so that it can fit in with Aqua, but may change for the final version.

On the right side of the toolbar there are a couple more buttons:

There’s “View Selector”, which allows you to choose which mode you want to use (reading mode, web mode, or calendar mode).

And finally, the ”Inspector”, which allows you to view detailed information and settings for the current feed.

In creating Headline’s UI, we’ve thought a lot about the user experience and we hope you’re as excited about it as we are! We’d love to hear more feedback from you! (our potential customers)

See you next week for more previews!
